Pervious Pavements

Rubberway Pervious Pavements

Rubberway Pervious Pavements are a porous rubber pavement system composed of 100% recycled post consumer tires. The large recycled crumb rubber granulate used creates a very porous, open grid surface allowing for rapid drainage and quick drying. This provides valuable filtration, stormwater management, and groundwater recharge while also allowing needed sustenance to reach tree and plant roots below ground. Rubberway Pervious Pavement is resilient enough to provide a low slip, spike resistant, comfortable and safe surface, yet firm enough to be suitable for more high impact use from skateboards, strollers, bicycles, and automobiles.

Rubberway Pervious Pavement is virtually maintenance free and is flexible, providing resistance to freeze and thaw to prevent cracking. Rubberway® Pervious Pavement is suitable for parking lots, embankments, pathways, trails, driveways, and more.

Our System

Specified at a 1 1/2" - 2" thickness using an environmentally safe, non-toxic, proprietary, water repellant binder, Rubberway® Pervious Pavement will provide years of durable, resilient, attractive, and safe usage. Rubberway Pervious Pavement is available in colors such as black, dark brown, terra cotta red, tan, and dark green.

Rubberrock 6000 System

The Rubberrock 6000 system incorporates a stone aggregate mixed with pigmented recycled rubber to form a more firm, durable surface suitable for light vehicular traffic. This system has been perfected with our special, proprietary binder that ensures a long lasting surface in which the stones will not come loose over the years. Rubberrock 6000 is suitable for parking lots, driveways, golf cart paths, and more. With the proper aggregate, binder, and substrate, this system can handle weight loads of up to 80,000 lbs.

Rubberway EVOLUTION System

The new Rubberway EVOLUTION system was designed to ensure a long lasting, durable system that won't fade over time. This patented system utilizes virgin rubber that is solid in color throughout to eliminate the possibility of the color wearing off. This colored rubber is mixed with rock and a hard, clear, UV stabilized binder and is poured over a base layer of recycled rubber. Thus, this open grid, rapid draining system has all the advantages of the Rubberrock 6000 system with the additional benefit of guaranteed color fastedness over time.

Materials that Exceed the Highest Standards

Our special binders are premium grade and derived of pure raw material compounds without fillers or VOC's. The tensile strength properties of our premium binders provide long term durability. The granulated rubber is from refined, recycled tires free of metal that are diverted from landfills to create this useful product. These materials are pigmented with long lasting, warranted, non-toxic pigments to create a variety of attractive color options for various applications and regions.

Environmental Benefits

Rubberway Pervious Pavement is an environmentally friendly and compatible surfacing system that provides filtration and stormwater management and is eligible for numerous LEED credits. Rubberway systems are non-toxic and exceed EPA requirements on no heavy metal leaching.

Permeability:

The porosity of Rubberway Pervious Pavement allows for rapid drainage of water while providing filtration and allowing for groundwater recharge and soil irrigation. This reduces runoff and provides stormwater management while allowing air, water, and nutrients to penetrate the subsoil to nourish tree and plant roots. Per ASTM F 1551 Rubberway Pervious Pavement drains 56 gallons/min/sf.

Stormwater Management:

Rubberway Pervious Pavement significantly reduces run off and provides valuable stormwater management by virtue of its porosity. Federal, state, and local governments are rapidly adopting stormwater management regulations and mandates and Rubberway is your environmentally friendly, forward thinking solution. LEED credits for both stormwater quantity and quality reduction are available for this system (See LEED SS Credit 6.1, 6.2 for more information).

Recycled Content:

Rubberway Pervious Pavements utilize 100% recycled post-consumer passenger or truck tires and is pigmented in a variety of attractive colors. This exceeds the recycled content requirements of LEED MR Credit 4.1 (See LEED MR Credit 4.1, 4.2 for more information).

Advantages

  • Porosity allows for rapid filtration and drainage

  • Reduces stormwater runoff and allows for groundwater recharge

  • Made from recycled tires with a non-toxic, waterproof binder

  • No heavy metal leaching

  • Resilient, spike resistant, comfortable, low-slip, and safe

  • Long lasting, easily repairable, low maintenance

Warranty

The five (5) year limited warranty provides 100% coverage in terms of cost for necessary repairs, during the first through third year of use by the owner, caused by degradation of the surfacing system. The warranty does not cover wear and tear damage caused by vehicles, other construction, spillage of chemicals, oils, and gasoline, damage from vandalism, slight color fading, stains, burns, gauges, or indentations. Problems caused by moisture, alkali, hydrostatic pressure, cracking or shifting of lifting of the substrata, over which the surfacing has been installed. The owner is responsible to maintain the wear layer with a sealer coat sold by USSA to maintain the integrity of the system every eighteen months. Priority must be placed on the high wear areas.
